Artwork..

Hello again,
I took some photos of some artwork from the year one classrooms today. The kids have done an amazing job. They are portraits of their grandparents, and of grandparents from picture books. I thought I'd share. Kids can do amazing things when helped. It's like when you scaffold their learning you have no idea what they might produce. Yay for Vygotsky - ZPD.
The first two are portraits of Miss Nancy from a book. The next two are portraits of "our grandparents". drawn with pencil and pastels, then newspaper is scrunched up behind it and it is put on a black background. Great effect! The last two are continuous line drawings of "our grandparents".

Kids are incredible. I should share Fred's poem from my prac class on here one day soon. But I am in bed now, sleepy Jen. Glad to be going to sleep in a minute.

P.s. went to the movies tonight to see step up. It was great. I wish I was a dancer. Thanks Bec, Sarah, Moni and Jackie for accompanying me!!

Did Bach really write 6 flute sonatas?

Well no he didn't! Quite incredible. We've thought for years and years that there were 6 Bach sonatas for flute. But did you know that the Cmaj sonata wasn't actually completely written by bach. It was originally unaccompanied and in 1731 he gave it to his son CPE Bach as a harmony exercise and the accompaniment was written.
The Eb maj sonata was also written the same way. These two sonatas do not appear in the Bach Neue Aguste (the authentic Bach collection) for this very reason. It was discovered by Robert L. Marshall the American Bach scholar and it is now seen as truth without a doubt.
Also in the last half a century the Gmin sonata by Bach has been discovered. Strangly this is definately attributed to Bach.
So there you go. Bach didn't really write 6 flute sonatas.

What I find odd however, is how can you definately say one sonata is written by him and the other isn't unless you have the original manuscript to compare composition handwriting. But I guess those scholar's know what they are talking about.

mmmm

mmm :)

pretty.
It's now only a couple of weeks until the new Motown Cd comes out. Unfortunately as soon as I start counting down to that.. it's that day closer to my flute exam :(

I am starting to get worried now. I have also been put on prednisone for my allergies and asthma. Not good? I don't think it is. Oh well.

Not much other news. Jen jen tired.

WKC - 2006dssaaa

I went to Women's Convention at Katoomba this weekend. It was really good. It's a Christian convention for women (der). This year the talks were on Jesus Uncut. It was looking at who the real Jesus was. All the talks were really good but one thing that I was really struck by was the letting go of guilt.
I've been living with a lot of guilt, some recent, a lot not. We looked a lot at Hebrews and how because of Jesus we need to let go of guilt.
We learnt that there are 3 types of guilt.
1) Haven't confessed guilt. We haven't truely confessed and moved on. We make excuses and we hide behind religious activities and empty confessions. We need to stop hiding from God, confess, turn away and move on.
2) We become balzé about sin. Jesus' sacrifice for us removes the dread of judgement but it doesn't remove the dread of sin.
3) Confessed but still feeling guilty. We forget the confidence we have in Christ, his once and for all sacrifice. We need to remember that we can forgive ourselves because God has forgiven me. We often feel that human's won't forgive us or will treat us differently because of what we've done.. but what we are doing is transferring human emotions to God. We are settling for a cut view of God. You see there is no fear of shame of being discovered. Jesus has dealt with it all, completely effective grace.

That's the biggest thing that I've realised. I am still working through this. I spent some time with my dear friends in my room at camp last night just chatting. It was nice to talk to them, I've been running away from them recently. I was very encouraged by the confidence I have in Christ. It has helped me with my guilt. I hope that I don't forget what I have learnt.

Another thing I was really challenged by was in Jenny Salt's talks on Matthew. She read us a quote about our views of God.
"Our faith will be most stable if we focus on Jesus and who he is and we discover he is far more wonderful that we anticipated". It's very true. Realising more about who Jesus is has helped with my 'cut' views of him, and he is far more wonderful than I ever anticipated.

A night with the boys

Oh my goodness!! I think that's the best way to describe my night last night!!

Last night Sarah and I went to see Human Nature (again - some of you will be thinking.. but just you wait!). It was a lovely evening so Sair and I decided to wear our dresses. We got there in good time, paid for parking and went to have dinner. It was tasty we had pizza and salad. Mmm yum!
After dinner we went for a bit of a wander through star city, picked up our tickets (squeeled when we got them causing sarah and the ticket lady to laugh at me). Then we played in some fountains.

Oh the humour! We then decided to get some more food (of the confectionary type) and went up to the showroom.
We showed the ticket man our tickets and he goes "to the right and all the way down to the front"... we squeeled again and giggled! We ended up being about 4m away from the stage!!!!
We sat down to enjoy the show. First Doug Parkinson came out and sang - he's really good. That was fun. Then there was interval. During interval we met some people from the HN forum - that was nice.. good to say hello to them in person :)
Then HN came on. I started screaming as soon as their opening song started!!! (try a little tenderness).
So the night went on... singing, dancing, laughing and the like. Then the song started.... My Girl.

Andrew looked at sarah and I at the start (making eye contact was funny), funnier because we knew that in My Girl they do something special!
So they get to the end of the song the music keeps going and Andrew goes.. "we've had a great time on tour, but like Toby was saying earlier.. we've been together for 17 years now. We've decided it's time to make some changes, so we've decided we're going to get a 5th member of HN and we're going to choose them tonight. Well, first of all, it has to be a girl... my girl... now there's a couple of categories that she has to fill.. she has to be able to dance, and she has to be able to sing...... so, i'm going to come now and choose my girl...now which way should I go".
By this point I had Sarah's hand gripped.. and he came down the stairs right near us... and walked towards sarah and I... and came and grabbed my hand and said "will you be my girl".... i'm like "ok.. :)" and he said what's your name etc etc.. so I got taken up on stage... Got to have toby help me up the stairs :D (hehe I got to hold his hand)... and Andrew was like "this is Toby".. i was like "hi..." (giggle giggle) and then he's like here's mike and phil.. "hi", from Jen.
Then I was standing next to Andrew and he goes... "so do you know the words to my girl"... "yeah" says Jen. "Ok. Well first of all.. we need to know if you can dance, have you danced before?"... Jen says "no!".. and then he goes... well all you have to do is.....

"Can you wiggle your hips.. can you wiggle your hips... etc etc".... Jen is mortified!! haha.
Then we got to sing my girl... :D it was sooo rad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still in shock!

So that was all a little exciting! I became HN's 5th band member for a while.. it was brilliant!! What a special night.. meeting, singing and dancing with my favourite band!! :o I am still in shock!!!!! I can't believe it happened! My goodness!

AGH!! I sang with Human Nature!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was like being a celeb on the way out because we kept getting stopped by people asking if it was a set up.. it was so much fun... I can't believe it happened... Something I hope I never forget!!
Some photos of the night are below.. none of me and the boys yet.. i'll hopefully see if anyone got any
